Prevalence and factors associated with Cryptoccocal antigenemia among patients with advanced HIV in Eastern Uganda: a facility-based cross-sectional study

Abstract Background Cryptoccocal infection remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality among people with advanced HIV disease (AHD). In resource-limited settings, there is data paucity on infections. We described the prevalence factors associated antigenemia AHD in Mbale Regional Referral Hospital Eastern Uganda. Methods this cross-sectional study, Social-demographic, clinical Laboratory characteristics adults were collected determined using multivariate logistic regression models. Results enrolled 228 participants a median CD4 count 194 cells/mm3 (IQR 129-370). antigen was 10/228 (4.4%; 95% CI, 0.024 - 0.080).
